I find that my best resource for finding out when my favorite authors have new books due out is to subscribe to their newsletters and also Facebook pages. in addition if one of my favorites recommend an author li try it out . Odds are i'll like them too. :-) too. Fun to go browsing in the bookstore as well because nothing like picking up a book

I have spent many an hour talking to my grandchildren about how much times have changed since I was their age. We have talked about the things we did to have fun compared to what they do to have fun these days. A normal Saturday in the 1960's was usually doing your chores then taking your $1.00 allowance and going to the movies. That dollar would pay your way in, buy you popcorn and a drink, and still have some left to buy penny candy on the way home. Today, my grandchildren can go to the movies right in my living room. Thank you Netflix for making that possible. We used to have to go to the arcade to play pinball or Pacman (in the 70's). Now, they can sit in my living room and play just about any video game that can be had while sitting on my couch.
Technology has changed so many things in our lives that it is hard to keep up. I love how technology has helped prolong life for those in need of a transplant. I love being able to use websites like Pogo and Facebook to keep in touch with family that live too far away to go visit on a weekly basis. I remember our first computer. It was a used IBM 8088 ( I think), it connected us to the bbs, but you couldn't see who you were chatting with and it would take forever compared to today to transmit information. That computer weighed about 20lbs not counting the monitor. Today's computers are very lightweight and fast. Thank God for technology!

My Great-grandmother was born in the era of horse and buggy, and died in the era of cars, planes, and early computers. Her daughter, my grandmother, lived to see cellphones and the internet. One hundred years ago, women were fighting for the right to vote. Every time I get into my car, I breathe a word of thankfulness for the women who fought and gave their lives so I could have the opportunity to drive my car down the street, vote, and talk on my cell phone (not all at the same time!) It is not really the technology that has wowed me the most, but the history that goes into my using the tech available. I use a computer because someone fought for the right for me. I can get an education, read, and connect with people because someone believed we all should be able to. The technologies are mind-blowingly amazing, but without people making it happen, I would not be able to answer this question.

The teacher next door to me & I mainly teach the same course. We talk often, bouncing ideas off each other, giving each other encouragement as we know which class is the worse (hardest) for each other. We meet 3 days a week with 2 additional teachers (1 teachs a support class for our struggling students & one has only 1 class of this course) and plan lesons, assessments, etc for our course. We share the work load so no one does too much.

I love the oreo thread and am glad to see that you ladies have a support system too.

We will start getting extremely busy at the school after Easter. It will be 6 weeks until graduation and there a lot of events, daily items, tests, & assorted stuff to get students ready for graduation. Also, you are preparing for summer and fall classes. Generally, some of these things we do as a group, some will be a 2 person event, or individual. Usually, one of us checks with how the other is doing, if assistance is needed and help with project. If need be, I've been known to stay late , bring work home with me, whatever is necessary. We don't want one person so overwhelmed with work that they can't realistically can't handle it.
Best wishes to all you ladies on your deadlines.

There is a fitness competition going on at my husband's work, and although I am not an employee, I am included in the competition. We all have these pedometers that have to be logged in daily. The competition this time is the most steps in a 2-week period. Although I am lagging behind in 4th, I found myself doing more than would if there wasn't a competition. By the way, I think it rather inhuman for the guy in 1st place to log in 20,000 steps a day...
